Küster K1

Can a highchair be sleek and modern? I mean, those are words you use to describe a black Mercedes, but a highchair? The answer is yes.

Check out this awesome highchair from Küster (just released in the US -- originally out of England) called the K1 -- isn't it beautiful? It is completely adjustable, meant to grow with your child until they are about 6 years old (they were tested for use up to 200 lbs!) The foot rest is adjustable and the curved wooden seat is designed for baby's comfort. The cushion is optional -- it only comes in the Lime Circle design now, but this is a new line, and Küster is saying that more cushion designs will be available soon ( I like the one in the picture to the right, personally). These highchairs have more than just looks going for them, though -- there is a 5 point harness to keep your baby safe and a basket that attaches to the back to store all of those little high chair books and games. My personal favorite feature, though, (apart from it's strikingly good looks!) is the little rubber stoppers on the tray that prevent the baby from pushing their bowl or plate right off the tray (or at least it slows down the process!).

All of Küster's products are designed by founder Stephen Kuester, who was formally trained as an aeronautical engineer and later returned to school at the Royal Academy of Art because he most enjoyed the design element of being an engineer. I'm not really sure how he ended up designing products for children, or what made him want to, but I'm certainly glad he did. Seriously, if Brad and Angelina were shopping for a high chair, can't you imagine that they would choose this one?

These fab chairs are available in white or beech, and retail for approximately $250, with the cushion retailing for an additional $50. Honestly, at first I was thinking that it was a pretty steep price tag, but then I realized that there is no way that Little AG will still be using her high chair when she is 6
years old (and it cost a good $100). I doubt she will even want to use it when she is over 2. However, this chair converts into a "big girl" (or "big boy") chair that your kids can use for quite a while. I think it would be neat for Little AG to have her own "special" chair in our house -- and it would be so easy to blend it in with the other furniture in the house since it doesn't look like your typical high chair!

This is super awesome! I can't buy it either because I can't afford to ship it overseas, but I CAN be envious.
Heck, even I could sit in it. If it is wide enough...

Actually, Kuster is originally based out of the UK, so maybe the rates would be cheaper shipping directly from them. You can go to http://www.kuster.co.uk for more info!
